Thank you sir, for your comments. The fourth century was not Xty's finest hour. And empire's straight jacket certainly limited Xty's ability to adapt and be creative. While Constantine caused a fundamental shift in how Xty self-identified and operated, I wonder if the change was not from white to black but there was changes already happening that made Constantine's policies so easy to accept? Of course the end to persecution was a major factor, but were there not changes that were pre-figured in the church fathers like monarchial episcopacy, church facilities, distancing from its Jewish roots, etc.? Even the changes in Xty's perspective toward the state as in writer of Luke/Acts? Again thanks for your thoughts.
